Twelve Flavours was founded by a student from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. What started as a humble pantry dining experience targeted at satisfying the hunger pangs of the students at Hall of

Residence 12 turned into a culinary venture. Twelve Flavours provide a unique private dining experience catered to anyone and everyone who shares our passion for food. From home parties, barbeque parties, to candle lit dinners for two we are confident that we will be able to provide a memorable, gastronomical & gratifying dining experience at the comfort of your home.

Derek combines his love for food, his understanding of Singaporean diners stemming from his peers and his passion for uncovering new culinary trends to create brand-new dishes that excites & intrigues. With the use of fresh ingredients and a uniquely concocted menu as a means to share their love for food, they aspire to make each encounter with their guests a unique and everlasting gastronomical experience. Inspiration for their creations are often personal, rooted in a sense of constant evolution with time, a fusion of various cuisines blended into one. The experience of dining with Twelve Flavours is not only satisfying but also unique, provocative, memorable and most importantly fun.

Ryan Tay

Business Manager and Sous Chef

Ryan (left) is currently a marketing undergraduate in the University of Stirling. Ryan is also a former National Judo Athlete with 6 national titles under his belt. Currently in the National Sambo Team, Ryan is ranked 5th in Asia and SEAGAMES’19 Bronze medalist. Just like in sports, Ryan is just as passionate in cooking and also very competitive. He is always looking to learn new techniques in the kitchen to elevate his culinary skill.

 

Seeking for new challenges, he signed up (got dared by his mom for MasterChef Singapore Season 2 to test himself finishing in the top 24 of the season.

Derek Cheong

Founder and Head Chef 

Derek (right), the winner of MasterChef Singapore Season 2 and also the mastermind and the creator of Twelve Flavours has been passionate about cooking and the culinary scene from a young age. He immersed himself in cooking videos and read cookbooks in his free time. In attempt to replicate recipes he learnt online for his family and friends, he later discovered his flair for cooking after much experimentation and practice. With the nodding approvals, emptied plates and the constant requests for MORE he embarked on his culinary journey by starting Twelve Flavours Private Dining. Building his dream of one day becoming the proud owner of his very own restaurant. 

Derek's arsenal of cooking further grew after he took part in MasterChef Singapore Season 2.
